Who Needs a Carnival?

For Christmas I got my husband a funnel cake kit. It includes the dry ingredients for the batter, the pitcher, the metal ring for the pan, and a set of tongs.

Funnel cake with powdered sugar caramel sauce and grape jelly. Amazing!!
This is after 3 or 4 tries. Now my hubby is a pro.
It only takes about 30 seconds to brown the bottom.

Family Recipe Friday: Chicken and Dumplings

Grandma's Chicken and Dumplings

My Grandma gave me this recipe the other day. She's 88 years young. She has lived in the same house for over 60 years. Recently she fell in her home and broke her hip. She was recovering from the surgery when she told me this recipe. She says it was her mother-in-law's (my great grandma) recipe from the farm. They lived back east, in Michigan.
This is the dry mixture. I added broth from the chicken until it was the right consistency to roll out. I cut them into squares and tossed them back into the broth at a simmer. I cooked them for about 20 min.

I will make this again for my grandma when she finally comes home from the rehabilitation center. My dad said it tasted just like when he was a kid.

A New Way To Make Chicken

I make Italian chicken just about once a week. It's my husband's favorite. It's so easy. I put 2 chicken breast in a glass dish and smother them in Italian dressing bake them at 350 for 45 min. I went to make it and discovered I was out of the dressing. So, I sprinkled half of a packet of the dry stuff and emptied a can of chopped tomatoes on top. It came out really good. Also very easy. I cooked up some pasta added a little olive oil and Parmesan cheese. I will definitely make this again.

Popcornicopia

This is 1/2 cup unpopped kernels.

Make sure you spray the bowl so the caramel doesn't stick.
This is an extremely large bowl!

Make Sure you remove all of the old maids
Boil 3 cups sugar, 1 1/2 tbls salt, 1 cup water, and 3 tbs butter. Stir a few times to combine. then let boil for 12 to 15 min without sturing. You will see the edges begin to brown then add 1 1/2 tsp baking soda. Make sure you measure this out before hand so that the sugar doesn't burn. When you add the baking soda it will foam up stir fast fast! Pour over popcorn and stir with 2 spatulas that have been sprayed also.
Transfer to one or two cookie sheets.

Drizzle Chocolate and white chocolate on top and then you have Zebra!
